She is incredible stubborn-minded, and will throw up total unthinking, uncompromising and inflexible resistance when she comes across a flaw or obstacle in her thinking to reach her desired conclusion, instead of correcting her stance. Her line of thinking is rather backwards and rooted in a downright toxic faith, where instead of using logic to reach an appropriate conclusion, she will start from the endpoint she wants and conclusions she worked out in advance and work backwards from there. Once her coping fails due to stressful events, like her time with the Slaughterhouse 9, she falls back hard on her black and white thinking and doesn't try to stop herself from doing so. Breaking these guiding tenets caused her considerable mental stress.Īmy has bad coping mechanisms and natural inclination of absolute black and white morality. Q4b: Ebooks… what if I made one for personal use, or to share with a best friend or family member?Ī4b: If it’s not obvious to the publishers and not known to Wildbow, then no problem arises.Panacea felt a gnawing sense of guilt, as every second she took to herself was a second where she was not helping other people, while at the same time growing to resent her patients. ![]() If you guys see such a site or person out in the wild, maybe send them a message, point them here/copy paste all this, or ask them politely to quit it, and if they don’t, let Wildbow know so he can figure it out. Wildbow has already missed out on one opportunity to get Worm out there because the other party got scared off by the mass-distribution via. There’s lots of really easy and obvious answers to all of these points, but in reality, publishers are skittish. There’s just too many questions of rights and ownership (who is the actual creator/distributor? Who was first?), whether the author really has control over their own property, and if the publisher feels it is worthwhile to get the rights to distribute the ebook if it’s already being put out there. For the time being, ebooks are not being distributed, and Wildbow would ask that people don’t set up sites, share scrapers or otherwise mass-distribute them. Unfortunately, dissemination of ebooks sort of muddies the waters and hampers those negotiations, whether it’s Wildbow doing it or others. He’d really like to do stuff like keep the website up and keep the integrity of his work, and the fact that the works are getting reads, money, reviews, fanart, and such really help with negotiating that. The current plan is to get the editing done and shop it around – with the established fanbase being what it is, Wildbow has a lot of freedom. Q4: Ebook? Can I have a copy? Is there going to be one? What about Worm?Ī4: Ebooks and the like are just about inevitable – Wildbow is in talks with an agent and has talked to some major publishers. ![]() ![]() Torture has been used as a novelty in Bond films before - there's a lot of it in the Brosnan era, whether Xenia's thighs in Goldeneye or the neck-breaking chair in The World Is Not Enough. The rope torture and poisoning scenes in Casino Royale were justified they were both an effective means of moving to a grittier style and a meaningful way of showing Bond's vulnerability. Either it's just a bad performance, or Mendes didn't know what he wanted from the character.įurther evidence of a confused director can be found in the torture scene. He seems uncomfortable in the costume, looking like Hyman Roth in The Godfather Part II but without the threat. Having Bond and Blofield as adopted brothers is workable, but Waltz can't decide whether to play it as the Jew Hunter from Inglorious Basterds or as a straight-up pantomime. Christoph Waltz, meanwhile, is completely underwhelming as Blofeld. Sherlock's Andrew Scott waltzes through the whole film like he has "bad guy" tattooed on his forehead, but at least he's fully committed to what he is doing. Not every woman in Bond's life has to be helpless without him, and the series has been at its best when the women are equal to him - either in a fetishistic way, like Xenia Onatopp or Bambi and Thumper, or something more mature and three-dimensional. Dressing her in stockings is at best a nod back to Teri Hatcher in Tomorrow Never Dies and at worst just lazy fanservice. ![]() ![]() Instead, she gets five minutes of screen time to look scared, sleep with Bond and then leave. The film has a great opportunity here, casting an older woman with the promise of a deeper relationship. ![]() Even if we put Léa Seydoux to one side, that still leaves us with Monicca Bellucci. None of the women in Spectre are given a fair crack of the whip. For all the steps forward that the Daniel Craig era has taken, it still can't resist a damsel in distress. Madeleine Swann is written like two completely different people who have been composited one moment she's being icy cold, compelling and giving Bond a run for his money with a gun, the next she's being captured for the umpteenth time and needing to be rescued. The refusal to even hint at it is too constant a factor for it to be an accident it is as though the whole production threw up their hands, admitted that it was terrible, and then asked us to forget that it ever existed.Ī related problem is that the script for Spectre is deeply conflicted, especially when it comes to the film's female characters. Instead, Quantum of Solace has been practically airbrushed out of history besides the odd mention of Quantum, we get no reference to its plot and Dominic Greene is never seen on camera. You would imagine that any story which seeks to claim that the events of Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall were all an elaborate means to bring us to this point would place an equal weight on each instalment and the events therein. The first such problem is the amount of emphasis given to each of the previous films. Spectre attempts to tie together the events of its predecessors with a story about chickens coming home to roost - and while there is much to applaud about Sam Mendes' film, it is also riddled with problems. Doctor Who, Sherlock and Star Wars have all shown that this is not an easy thing to pull off, and it's harder still to convince an audience that such an undertaking was always intentional. Since the franchise was effectively rebooted with Casino Royale, an approach more becoming of comic books has been employed: different writers and directors come in and somehow try to stitch all the character's actions together into an overarching narrative. While this has kept the Bond series as a whole firmly in the realms of fantasy, it has allowed individual entries in the series to push for something more gritty or realistic if it works, it's embraced and carried forward, and if not the series reverts to type with very few tears. Modern audiences are asked to believe that the character has been the same age for more than 50 years, and the series has bent or tinkered with its conventions ever so slightly as the decades have rolled past in order to stay relevant. One of the most obvious characteristics of the Bond series is that each instalment of the franchise can sit on its own. Rating: PG-13 (Language|Intense Sequences of Action|Sensuality|Some Disturbing Images|Violence) As Bond ventures toward the heart of SPECTRE, he discovers a chilling connection between himself and the enemy (Christoph Waltz) he seeks. Needing the help of the daughter of an old nemesis, he embarks on a mission to find her. After infiltrating a secret meeting, 007 uncovers the existence of the sinister organization SPECTRE. A cryptic message from the past leads James Bond (Daniel Craig) to Mexico City and Rome, where he meets the beautiful widow (Monica Bellucci) of an infamous criminal. ![]() ![]() ![]() There’s a switch high on the wall (above). If you shoot the switch while you aren’t actually standing on the lift, it only costs you time. Useful anti-frustration note: this lift is programmed to automatically retract after a few seconds. From it, you can jump to an alcove that contains ammunition and an Ore Fragment. Shoot it to trigger a hidden lift on the platform. If you stand on the first platform you reach, turn around, and look up, you’ll spot a switch up near the ceiling. Go to your right, into the long corridor. #2: After you activate the switch in the main portal chamber and get the “data board missing” error, head back into the lobby. It’s embarrassingly easy to miss, or at least it is if you’re me. ![]() To open the window on the cache, look directly opposite it for a dim switch on the side of the nearby support column. You can go after the first two portal locks in any order, but only one of the two areas has any secrets or Ore in it, and that’s the one that’s made up a single long, tall corridor. The central gimmick of Atonement, once you emerge into the main area, is that you’re trying to empower the exit by destroying three portal locks, the entrances to which are in three separate parts of the chapel complex. "Military TARDISes" were sent to collect the Sixth Doctor from Etarho in a displaced timeline. Foreseeing the possibility of its kind being decommissioned, this lost War TARDIS influenced its owner, Battle Cardinal Melia, during the peace talks after the Krikkit War to set in motion a series of event that would lead to a second Krikkit War and the revival of its kin, using a supercomputer called Hactar. After a millennium, the TARDISes were finally used again in the Krikkit War, during which the first one was lost and the other eleven were put back into storage. They were intended as an expensive, short-term measure, but with their self-preservation instinct, they influenced their handlers to maintain the fleet in case of future conflict. Twelve original War TARDISes were created for the Great and Terrible Wars against the Vampire Mutations early in Gallifreyan history. One was damaged in the War and became known as the astronomical body Cassandra. Older versions, built during the Dark Times when the Time Lords fought the Great Vampires, were the size of comets and had unstable real world interfaces. They could not withstand many shots of weapons fire from the first Type-102 TARDIS known as Compassion. Some such grounded 91-forms were incapacitated or abandoned and dug out of the group millions of years in the localised future, misidentified by the natives as relics of a lost civilisation or the bones of huge, semi-mechanical monsters. In orbit, they were often mistaken for arks or flagships of lesser species however, they more often rooted themselves on planets at ground level, pushing aside buildings and taking the forms of giant cathedral-like embassies for the Great Houses. ( PROSE: The Ancestor Cell) In fact, 91-forms were the first timeships intentionally designed to be indiscreet, appearing as consistently big, bulky, and unapologetic. They could map their interior dimensions onto the outer dimensions, making for an imposing sight. They were programmed with self-preservation, so rather than changing to match the personality of their owners like many other TARDIS models, they worked to change the personality of their owners. ( PROSE: The Taking of Planet 5) Though not recognisably intelligent, the minimum-intensity biodata in their structures gave them a biological edge, suggesting they were aware of life on their pilots' level. War TARDISes were reared/born/controlled via a Bull-TARDIS in the time vortex. ( PROSE: The Taking of Planet 5, et al.) These included Type 91s ( PROSE: The Book of the War, The Brakespeare Voyage) and Type 94s. War TARDISes were created by the Time Lords to fight during the Vampire Wars ( PROSE: So Vile a Sin, Doctor Who and the Krikkitmen, et al.) and the War in Heaven. ![]() ![]() ![]()
